The PEI forested landscape priority place for species at risk initiative

The PEI Forested Landscape Priority Place for Species at Risk (FLPP) initiative, established in 2019, engages forested landscape interest groups, such as conservation groups, Indigenous communities and organizations, governments, forest practitioners, and woodlot owners to identify and act on opportunities to advance forest habitat and species at risk conservation. Through the FLPP, a core team was established to collaboratively identify habitat targets, key pressures, and conservation opportunities, and to develop a conservation implementation plan. Since 2019, the FLPP core team and its partners have implemented projects aimed at improving conservation outcomes for the PEI forested landscape and species at risk. Projects supported through the FLPP broadly include site and area stewardship, outreach and communications, research and status monitoring, protected area acquisition and designation, training and capacity-building, and partnership development.
