There is currently a gap in the knowledge of existing conservation and biodiversity efforts in Nova Scotia. There are a number of projects and initiatives working towards improving conservation and biodiversity protection efforts, however, there is no over-arching framework or network which summarizes these initiatives. As a result, there may be duplication or geographic overlap of efforts and gaps in where these initiatives can be further applied. This may be due to funding constraints, undeveloped partnerships between organizations and no format structure with which to share knowledge. Cape Breton Privateland Partnership (CBPP) has partnered with Unama’ki Institute of Natural Resources (UINR) to identify this need to create a network of organization across Nova Scotia for conservation and biodiversity. By connecting with stakeholders, we have established a province-wide collaboration of organizations focused on biodiversity and conservation efforts in Nova Scotia and are building a publicly available database of current and past projects. This will allow the project to share knowledge and understand where there are gaps in conservation and biodiversity needs in Nova Scotia.
